Both LSHS Orchestra and the Golden Marching band performed in front of The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councilor Christabel Flight on September 16. “It was an awesome performance” as the Lord Mayor, said.

The Lord mayor and Catherin Longworth were nodding their head to the music as both bands played. “The performance was astonishing and very lovely”, Catherin Longworth said.

According to sophomore Robert Bruce, “performing for the Lord Mayor was an exciting yet nerve-racking experience”. Bruce has also played overseas in Scotland.

“And seeing the happiness of each student to be performing for such an elegant councilor and lady was really pleasing” Principal Mr. Faulkenberry said. Towards the end Catherin Longworth handed Mr. Faulkenberry a cuff links, for recognition, and his work.

“ It was really, really cool to meet someone with a title from Britain”, senior Gannon Rialti, said.

Later on that day, The Orchestra and Golden Marching band were officially invited to perform in the 31st annual New Year’s Eve parade and festival in London, England 2017.

“The city of Westminster and London mayor association take great pleasure in extending this invitation to Lee’s Summit High School Golden Tigers marching band and orchestra to participate in the thirty-first annual Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve parade”, Lord mayor of Westminster Catherine Longworth said.
